im sorry if i appear boastful in the next few paragraphs, im just a little overjoyed and beaming with pride with our achievements and heritage. i love my platoon and my unit! :D


the mortar platoon of the first battalion singapore guards achieved an outstanding grade of 97% (!!!!!), REDCON 1 standard in the atec stage 1 examination this week; much like your continual assessment in school before the big one at the end of the year, which for us will be done in australia come october. (boo.)

but being awarded redcon 1 is not enough for us. the battalion also received a plaque for the best unit competition from the chief of army, and this award don't come easy for we are only a first year battalion competing with other second year soldiers for the coveted medal.

like our big boss will say, the moral of the story is "don't mess with 1 guards".


but this good news also come with some bad news which im not at liberty to share with you here. let's just hope that the h1n1 flu will be behind us soon, even our courtesy meow is taking precautions!

it's my buddy's 20th on the fourth, and being kind as always, he insisted on no celebration or gifts for him so bo pian, i must plan one in stealth.

the outcome? a smashing good time in camp!

"ok, now the drivers!"
"yeah, now the non-drivers."

"smokers gather!
and so on so forth.

but mingfeng really takes the cake with...

"okok now all handphone no. start with 9 one, come take photo!"

everyone loves the choco banana cake from secret recipe but as with all birthday parties...


there are bound to be casualties when there is a surplus of cakes. hahaha i love my mortar platoon.

today we meet as a continuation of sean's birthday celebration. though sean is born here, he spent most of his life in new zealand so his knowledge of singapore is confined to orchard road, bugis, and bedok camp. lol.


with that in mind, we decided to go ubin! woo hoo!



all in all over half the platoon turned up, a good effort on our first self-organised platoon outing.

all was well until michael schumachxiang derailed his bicycle chains and made it impossible to cycle anymore.


being kaypo i offered to longbang him back to the jetty but less than ten metres into our journey we both...


and he landed on top of me. thank you arh!


next it was lewis hamilthun's turn to kaypo, and they are both laughing at me falling 5 mins ago.


but unknown to them 50 metres is all they need to suffer the same fate and laughters. LOL!

it's the atap chee tree! you know that sweet gray oval thing in your ice kachang dessert? wah i never thought the fruit will look like that. don't bluff you also never thought so i know.


soon we were back to civilization. slurp our favourite mocha frappucinos, read my favourite torque mag and check email! wah, life's good.





dinner was a bad four course affair at minds cafe, which we overcame with loads of laughters and shouts.

overall it was a good week, especially with that ndp preview yesterday. i absolutely love this year's show! makes me so proud to be a singaporean. but for now i got to go have my hair cut before booking in for guard duty later.

and i nearly say i love my vocation. ZZZ.
